Well, I'm not sad so much as I am sympathetic. It's a shame there isn't a sane way to make a place where every car with every type mod can have a competitive place to play. *sigh* It's an even bigger shame when a car like yours (a good car for this purpose, not unobtanium, and not insanely modded up) has to go play against SM2 or XP competition.
I'll also point out that if you think an allowance should be made for front LCAs in SP, send a letter to seb@scca.com with what you want and why. It may not happen, but it can't if you don't ask for it. The classes do grow and evolve, though not always as fast as people would like. Also note that the SEB will recently publish they are looking for members for various advisory committees (like the Street Prepared committee, which is where the SEB takes its recommendations from on what to change). You can send in a resume if you'd like to participate (there's no physical requirement to be present anywhere...everything is done by conference calls every other month and on a private forum).
Sometimes people think a certain marque is unfairly "picked on" by obvious problems in classing. In reality it *could* be that there were no folks with intimate knowledge of that marque in a position of persuasion and thus a small amount of fear of what the car *might* do caused it to be classed somewhat improperly based on reality. How do you change that? Get people *with* knowledge of those marques on the various committees.

I'm just sayin'...

Thanks. I'll shoot an email, but won't cry if it doesn't amount to anything.
Say- why isn't the Cayman S mentioned in any prepared class list?

Probably because nobody has asked for it to be. You should send another letter asking for that. I think it obviously should go in FP and I don't think anyone would even look at you funny if you raced one there right now given the 911's being there.
Ooh, dang, nevermind on that letter. The Boxster and Cayman are already added to FP in the 2008 rulebook (not out yet, but they'll be there when it is).

Along with BSP if I read it correctly... now this might be an interesting class for the CS... especially if the AWD cars were reclassed
Donnie- can you confirm the BSP classing for Cayman S?
EDIT: OK - I just reread Aug-Nov Fasttracks and see nothing, but I could have swore there was a 1/1/08 recommendation to move ALL Boxsters and Caymans from ASP to BSP...
Some of us emailed the SEB a few months ago, as you suggested, about the possibility of reclassifying the Cayman S from SS, where it is certainly not competitive with the GT3, etc.
Any possibility of that occurring? Or are modifications into another class, as in this thread, the only way?
Does the SEB ever respond directly to these letters or emails to confirm receipt?
