Keeping your car pretty

How do you keep your car's front end from getting MANY paint chips from track time, or is this just the price of having fun on a track?

You do have a clear bra I hope? And there is always the blue painter's tape that many apply (some of the photos in the gallery show that option).

you can protect the paint with clear bra but good luck not getting the sand blasted look on your windshield. that is always the easiest way to spot a car that has been to many track events.

clear bra is the way to go. 7,000 track miles and no paint chips. as for the windshield, i just bought tear-offs and they are supposed to be great for road and track. supposed to help prevent windshield from cracking when hit by a stone also.

If you track the car you HAVE to have a clear bra. I can't believe how much the bra helps prevent paint chips. The windshield is another story. I agree that the best way to tell if a car has been tracked alot is by the amount of stone chips on the windshield.

My car has 13,000 miles on it and much of that mileage was done either on the track or on my way to and from the track. The high speed tracks I go to, like Watkins Glen and Tremblant where speeds exceed well over 100MPH in many spots, seem to do the worst damage.

Joel-CS: What are tear-offs?

It is like clear bra, but for your windshield. You can buy them from CDOC or other suppliers in either 3 or 5 sheets. When the top sheet gets dinged up, you just tear it off and you have a fresh windshield. You see it a lot in professional racing and also on helmet visors in open cockpit cars. It was highly recommended to me by track drivers.
