I was reading the information stuck in that nice (immitation) leather holder/whatever about warranties. It said something about driving "...on reasonable road surfaces within legal speed limits..." or words to that effect. But a lot of folks do "track days" or DE activities.
So, is the warranty valid on track days, even though the road surfaces are quite nice and the definition of "legal limit" is somewhat ambigious. Or if a part fails a month after such an one day activity, is the part still expected to be part of warranty? I surely am expecting a Porsche to withstand some driving at speed.
Porsche is very good about taking care of customers. Unless you really abuse your car, modify to the point of no return or do something really stupid you don't have anything to worry about.
they are giving themselves an out, they have covered my power steering pump even though the car is lowered and they know it is tracked. So they will try to do what they can. If you truely abuse it like santa fe said they don't need to warranty it.
I think it's possible to drive a lot faster (legally) on the Autobahn, than the top speeds you can achieve on the usual DE/track day courses. I think that if you can show that you have maintained the car at least on schedule, they shouldn't give you any problem.

Maybe so, but high speed "cruising" isn't nearly as hard on your car as the constant acceleration, braking, and cornering near the limits that you put your car through on the track.

There are many examples of Porsche "doing the right thing" in this regard. I know of three people who had engines replaced when Porsche knew they were tracking it. They were told, just this once, but still, pretty good show. Other stories about power steering, etc. Guess I'll find out soon: my car is in the shop now with what we suspect to be power steering problems. The tech sat in my car to hear the noises I was describing and asked me about me tracking the car. Guess the 6 point harnesses and fire extinguisher were a dead giveaway. He talked about how he had heard how great this car was on the track etc. and mentioned a few of the other folks in the area that I must know, then went on to describe several of the zone 8 luminaries you see in these threads. So, if my car is covered under warranty, we have another success story. If not, I guess I am the local goat. I will let you know.
Well, just picked up my car tonight. Diagnosis was power steering failure. Fixed under warranty, no questions asked. Didn't even charge me for the right rear brake light that was out. This company is pretty cool about tracking your car, yeah?
