GT3 Seats + HANS

For those of you with GT3 seats and that use a HANS device, do you experience any rubbing of the device on the seat? I'm planning on doing both, but don't want to ruin an expensive seat with a HANS ... still want to do the HANS but would probably get a different seat.

Thanks!

Maybe you're better off asking in the Cayman Appearance forum. Here in the Cayman Competition forum people aren't worried about how their RACE seat looks.

Seriously, if you're that concerned, swap seats. And don't put the GT3 seat back in. *shrug*

Man, you must have a different car than me ... for me, it's all about the right compromise: performance and beauty!

Well, I want the performance of the GT3 seats, so I don't think that would work out.

Okay, great. Thanks very much.

I know I can get lighter and cheaper seats that are probably better on the track, but I really wanted the factory fit of the GT3s. So that's what I'll do.

after mkt seats aren' that much cheaper.
price quoted doesn't inc brackets and rails. also, you need to do minor mods here and there to get it fit. 996gt3 seats just bolts in, no mod, no sweat. price inc everything you need.

chk with suncoast porsche.

Which GT3 seats? If you mean the 996 ones, well, there are aftermarket that perform just as well, if not better.

As for beauty, I consider a car like this that is worn in the right places to be beautiful. A car like this with a wear mark from a HANS is just cool, IMHO. Takes nothing away, anyway. *shrug*

The 996 GT3 seats in a friends 2005 Boxter S feel very tilted forward and from what I understand there is no way to adjust this. I drove the car w/o my HANS device which would add about another inch behind your head. You may want to try one in a car before committing to it.

There are some cheaper after-market seats that are better racing seats for several hundred less than the GT3 seats (yes, talking 996), even after the additional required hardware. But they don't look as nice, imo.

But at this point I think I am committed. After the feedback here with people that use them with no rubbing, and some personal conversations I'm hoping I'll be okay.

Thanks very much for the input everyone. It's been very helpful. I'll let you all know how it works out ... should be able to get this all done next week.

For the record, my HANS hasn't marked up my Euro GT3 seats in any way.

The Brey Krause side mount brackets overcome this issue..............

No problems rubbing at all.
However, if you take your HANS off and hop into a student's car with a 3-point belt the "studs" on each side of your helmet "can" scratch the seat if you turn your head too far. It's a good idea to cover the studs with a piece of electrical tape before hopping into a students car.

I'm a long way from having students, but understood. I do however go to the track with friends so I'll be careful when I get in their cars.
