Here it is. Excuse my spanglish.
Went to the old airport strip, and did 3 runs. Bear in mind this is a brand new M5 with 500 Km or so in the odo, so the owner was not revving higher than 6000 rpm (his words).
He put the sport 500 Hp mode, stood still. I turned the AC off, and beeped 3 times. Surprisingly, around the first 60-80 km/hr my CS pulled easily 1 or 2 cars ahead, until we reached around 200 km/hr. Then he pulled all the way up to 250 km/hr Id say 3-4 cars ahead. Then we slowed down.
Bottom line he did not have me, he was VERY surprised and said, damn your croc is fast !
Now, many things could have happened. First he said not to have revved over 6000 so that puts him under a limit, Second, its a brand new car, so the engine may have to loosen up, plus he may have to learn how to launch it better. Third, his tires spinned hard during launch, so he lost the lead in all 3 runs. He got better the third time but still, no cigar for him.
Over 200 km/hr clearly it was M5's territory, but the CS was no slush either.
According to some mags, the M5 does 0/60 in like 4.5 sec +/-. Mine with the mods I have, does around the same time, so if he did not launch the car properly, then that explains the initial lead. But all the way to 200 Km/hr the car could not pass me, I had him on my rear mirror, but close behind.
Then we did a very tight U turn corner test, first me riding as passenger, and boy you definately have to slow down as you can feel a heavy car. The CS on the very same corner does it with ease and speed, with a nice drift. What I did like is that as a passenger, from standpoint, you can feel the M5 pull hard (torque?), more than what I feel as behind the wheels of my CS. But thats only a sensation, because in reality my CS pulls from zero just as hard as the 3 runs proved. But then again, you do feel more speed as a passenger that as driving the car. I experienced that same feeling when driving the 997 turbo, shotgun or at the wheels is a whole different game. Now I see why some people are not content with 480 hp at the wheels and crave for more ponies. But if you drive a as a passenger, 350 Hp maybe all it takes for raising the scare factor.
We did not have time to measure times, as these 3 runs pretty much did it at least to get an initial impression. I think once his car has at least 2000 km in the odo, engine may break in better and pretty sure numbers will improve. Also give it time for the new owner time to learn the car, although he is a young, car enthusiast, with several exotics under his ownership.
Overall its an impresive luxo sedan, very well made, nice leather and gadgets, but the CS is one hot ticket.
Lucky us owners, I tell you.
