Went to the 'Ring today - it was absolutely freakin'...

CLOSED!!

there was ice at various points on the track and they closed it 1/2 hour before I got there for the rest of the day! What a disappointment...

(did have fun running up there from Frankfurt with the speedo at 185 km/h - 111 mph)

Well, back to work...

I hate to say this . . . but I told you so. No, I really DO hate to say it. I wish you had gotten the chance to try it out but at this time of year it is "iffy". The days are short and the weather can get real cold and wet. Will you be going back to Germany . . . in the spring??

I will definitely be back! I travel here a coupel of times a year for business, so it is in the cards for sometime in 2008.

It would have been ok if the weather forecast was bad or iffy. But I landed and it was beautiful blue skies, above freezing, etc. No inkling. AND it was open all morning. When some sections went into the shade, they froze over. Oh, well! I will get it next time...

Indeed you will! And you will have a great time!!

But take heart. As you said the Autobahn was fun.

I got up to 230 kph on a motorcycle on the Autobahn! (That's about 140 mph! )

Bummer. My son got skunked at the 'ring last month -- showed up with his buddies and a rental car only to find it closed. No notice, no reasons, no ice.

They did, however, get to walk the track, which I suppose you don't get to do very often.

So, I'm intending to return with him next year -- hope to see you there.

Andy
