I made up this table and posted it here under files. It includes 8 different brands of track tire with all sizes to fit the Cayman. It includes price, diameter and rim width for each tire. By choosing your desired front-rear stagger, keeping the width compatible with your wheels and making sure the front rear diameter does not exceed 5%, you should have an easy time choosing tires. You can even do a cost analysis based on your rate of usage as to whether the cheaper 17" tires warrant buying another set of track wheels. Enjoy.
1) The Nitto NT-01 is also available in a 275/40-18
2) Not all brands have the same dimensions by size (I am sure you are aware of this, but others may not be)
Just remember to click on the Tire Rack link here when ordering tires so we get a commission for the sale, otherwise if you just type it in or call them we don't get anything.

I'll check the Nitto's tonight. I may have missed that one. The only tires I purposely excluded where those where the diameter was less than 615 mm or the width was over 315 as I thought we were getting too far away from the norm. You're right about dimensions changing from brand to brand which is why I didn't want to make any commitment to fitment. One should be OK with stock sizes, but it is possible that a wider rear tire may work with one brand and be very close to rubbing while another brand (of the same size) might rub.

I am planning to AX my CS when the weather warms up. I have the 19 " wheels and I am wondering what might be available in that size.
Thanks
I didn't include 19" on the table because there were not enough choices that I felt a table was necessary, plus the consensus on this site seems to be that 19" really isn't the way to go for the track. I wasn't thinking about autocross at the time. I printed out the available sizes on all of the tires from the manufacturers websites. Most do not come in 19". The MPSC do come in 19" and if I recall there may have been one or two others with limited sizes. I'll double check and see if I can update table.

Great spreadsheet. Is there a reason you didn't list PS2s?
I was trying to stick with (what I thought) were the most popular track tires. I debated whether to include the Falkens because they are not technically track tires (with a wear rating of 200 vs. 60 for most of the others on the list). Yet they seem to be used more and more on the track because of their price (and after reviewing my table I must say I am very tempted to try a set and see how they compare to RA-1s which I have been using for years). Of course, once you go down that slippery slope of including one "street tire" you are open to all of the other sticky street tires like the PS2. Am I missing something: isn't the PS2 the OEM tire that Porsche chooses to use when it puts Michelin tires on a new Cayman? Or are you talking about something else. If you guys like PS2's on the track then I will include them. This is a work in progress.

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. I am in the middle of getting a new set of rear tires, but cant decide on which yet. Problem is where I live I need to import these so I have not much of an option of sending them back in case they dont fit.
I need wider rubber in the back, have 265/40/18 currently fitted on Forgeline's PSP3.
So I have narrowed down to 3 size options:
1) 275/40/18
2) 275/35/18
3) 285/35/18
What would you go for? You guys think with 3) I should be ok? I dont want to mess up front/end steer balance too much. I think we have enough clearance up to 305 but I would need new wheels. Discarded.
Will buy Michs PS2 for sure.
Thanks for the advice..
