I received an e-mail that the official Charlotte Parade web site is now live. That it is, and I note that previously announced limit of 400 competitors has been reduced to 375.
I guess any of us that plan to attend need to be ready to roll on March 11 at 8am Eastern when registration opens.
It sounds like it will be fun, using the infield road course a Lowes Motor Speedway. I note that there will also be tours of the Hendrick and Penske race shops. That should be extremely cool.

According to the January Panorama (p. 38), registration opens on March 11 at 9 am Eastern rather than at 8 am. Also, all March 11 online, and paper registrations postmarked on March 11, will be treated equally.
The infield section is not very long, so maybe they have some variations in mind to make it longer. There's a short straight and an even shorter straight that could host some offset gates or a Chicago box. There's also an old kart course toward the NASCAR 3 and 4 (North) end that we autocrossed on years ago, but that's kinda short too.

Yes, I just looked through the Parade site, and it says 9a ET... it has been 8a ET in the past. I do hope they make a good course - the San Diego course was darn-near perfect... a mini road course with some serious elevation changes and very close to, if not a mile long.

My understanding, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, is that you just have to be registered THAT DAY. They're going to let more than the cap register online and by mail if necessary, and then a lottery will be done. So it wouldn't matter if you registered at 9am or 5pm, everyone is treated the same.
I've got some plans to try to make a Cayman get FTD. It'll still be a street car, but think Farnbacher GTR with lots of carbon fiber goodies (doors, decklid, hood, anyway).

Farnbacher Loles
Farnbacher Loles launches Power Plus
Our exclusive new line of “Power Plus” kits will give you the extra performance you seek with the uncompromising quality and proven results that has made Farnbacher Loles the leader in Porsche performance.
Donnie: That's my understanding about registration also. Sometimes Parade doesn't even fill up on the first day, but one never knows before hand.
Your "neighbor" Don K told me about your member days at VIR in March. We're old friends (in both meanings of the term). He emailed me recently asking if I'd ever seen a Cayman with a 997 nose. I think his ribs are still sore.
Given the wording on things in the Carolinas Region newsletter, I'd be surprised if this one didn't fill up. They made the very good point that Hershey was the last Parade in a LONG time that was a reasonable distance from here. Plus, with the fact that the autocross course is on the speedway at Lowes, it should attract a lot of participants.
Heh, yeah. I warned him they would be, but I didn't think the ribs would be that bad. Karting can do that to you. He'll probably have a rib protector for the next time he comes over! He whipped up on us, too. Damned national champions!
Brad I might be looking for a car to drive ummmmmm.. How is it to be back in the USA?
Larry - Good to hear from you... it's great to be back - 5.5 weeks in China is just a little too much... Sure, you could drive my car... in another class, that is!
Let's talk about it....
BTW, LVR's first DE of the season is Mar 1-2 at Spring Mountain - you really ought to come down for it... get the RSA some exercise early in the season...

OK, less than a month to go, and I thought I would give this one a bump.
I am leaving ABQ on Thursday the 26th, and plan to arrive in Charlotte early afternoon on Saturday the 28th.
My plan is go from ABQ to Oklahoma City on Thursday (540 miles), OKC to Nashville on Friday (680 miles), and Nashville to Charlotte on Saturday (420 miles).
Anyone caravanning from out west, that may be passing through on those dates?
