What’s the advantage of the previous group buy at 660 pounds or the January allocation of 675 pounds when Quaife UK has charged 660 pounds on their website for months?
We stopped Quaife putting the price to £788 in January 07 (Before a diff had even been made, as they did with most the other ATB's) and as I was the "fool" who invested a considerable amount of money to get Quaife to make the diff in the first place. (As they wanted me to "Guarantee" 30 units)
We have run the promo since we got the first ones at the end of March. Again it's year end and the Quaife's price has only gone up from £660 to £675 for 2008. The point is that as yet and only with autotech's exception we have taken and sold ALL production of the QDF12Q.
But basically, and in answer to your question Quaife "shouldn't" sell you one, as it should either come through motordrive or autotech.
(Taken from the start of the thread Post #10 ) but they want me to order 30 units, to make sure it happens!!!!!! don't suppose you've got £20k doing nothing in your back pocket..have you

With an ordinary open differential, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip, along the path of least resistance. The torque capacity of the TBD/ATB unit is increased or decreased by varying the helix and pressure angles of the gear teeth. The operation is automatic and the unit is a direct replacement with the stock differential. There are no clutch plates as in more conventional limited-slip designs.
The Torque Biasing Differential or A.T.B., however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel. In drag-race style, straight-line acceleration runs, this results in a close to ideal 50/50 power split to both drive wheels, resulting in essentially twice the grip of an ordinary differential.

Diff now fitted and ready to go........... Yea Haaaaaa................
Just need to get the 2 bald rears replaced (on Thursday morning) so I can get a true picture of how the grip levels have been improved on my local wet, slippy, muddy, cold, tight, bendy roads.
Initial impressions (after 1 short drive) are that you can really feel the rear tires break-away as a pair when you provoke the rear whilst exiting junctions. It feels beautifully controlled, and it feels like virtually all of the axel tramp has been removed as well.
Can’t wait to get on the road tomorrow morning!! I’ll report back once the new (or rather part used) tires are on towards the end of the week.
Thanks Allan, and thanks to Chris at Loe Bank Motors for the installation and the alignment, and the brake fettling!!
