i am planning to track my cayman just twice a year not as much as i did with my older porsche.so would i just stick with the stock oem brake pads for the cs or there is a need for upgrade to a pagid for example taking cost and having pads for street/track combine use in consideration.please advise me.
it really depends on the track and how aggressive you drive. at sebring my stock pads get killed fast. the pagid yellows wear much slower, so they actually save me money and they brake better. i got them from sponsor www.RennStore.com -- The source for Pagid brake pads.
I guess it does depend on how you drive. Brad (aka beez) is a PCA instructor and he's very fast. His car spends a LOT of time on tracks and he was telling me that he got 27,000 miles out of his factory pads. I've also read about several people experiencing brake problems with aftermarket pads. So I think I'll be sticking with the OE pads until I'm tearing them up really fast.

+1 on all points.
I want track pads that work. The oem pads just weren't up to the task. My Pagid yellows work well and last.
Objectively speaking:
~OEM pads last an average of 2.5 days track days from brand new.
Then they are j-u-n-k .
Subjectively speaking:
~OEM are designed for QUIET running, some hard use, but no more...and they feel rather 'weak' compared to a performance pad.
~Pagid Yellows, nothing like 'em.....2 guys right here on this topic use them.
Honestly, if you track your car rather easily, are a beginner, and only go the track 2X a year - stay with stock pads.
I'm not here to lie to you or convince you that of the need an all-out track pad for easy and occasional track use.
But, as time goes on, you may be more into track days........it's a easy habit to get into .......a set of Pagids will make a considerable difference......

I have 6 days on my Pagid Yellows and 8mm left to go.

I can back up Craig's comment... My OEM's had 2.0 track days and were right at the sensor! So 2.5 track days as the limit is dead on ... and I'm running a little 2.7!
I went with Pagid Orange, ran at Thunderhill and found them exceptional. Since it is so easy to swap out the pads, I was thinking of running my OEM's for daily driving and just put in the Oranges for track days... but, I'm not rushing to do the swap... the Oranges are doing fine on the street... not squeeling, works pretty ok for DD, though I still will swap to run OEM's for DD... they are just that more mellow for, well mellow driving. But for more aggressive and repetitive stops, OEM's are no match.
I think that would be even more the case with an extra 50 hp!
D of D&D
Right on! This echoes other's experiences (customers who tell me how they like the pads)
Tip:
Mark the pad locations LI/LO (left inner, left outer) etc for easy rebedding upon re-install.
OEM pads......all they do well is "be quiet".

Maybe I'm old and slow, but this weekend running a DE at Pocono North, after six 20 minute sessions (one in heavy rain), I can barely measure any significant pad wear with my OEM pads. When I do see wear, I'd opt for a better aftermarket pad.
