Perhaps or perhaps not Ken. Maybe the operator set the machine for the public's runs vs the "star" driver(s) so there would be someone getting virtual bragging rights. All the variables (traction, throttle, steering, ease of spinning, off course prevention, etc.) are individually set and can be controlled on the fly by the operator. In fact they can be set so losing control is virtually impossible.

There was a similar super simulator (but for a Daytona prototype) in the Daytona Club at the Rolex 24 this past Jan. The scoop given me by the operator who set the controls was that he tried to avoid really embarrassing anyone and insured that at least a few members of the public "beat" the pro drivers' times. He made the day for a little kid who could barely reach the pedals, but turned a faster time than his dad.

Yeah I mean geez it was 8 years ago at Comdex, different setup, different people, and I had watched the times of some 15-20 people in front of me in line and no one had as low a time as I did. I guess it is "possible" that the operator's did something funny, but it didn't seem that way given the circumstances. I still chalk it up to too many hours of Gran Turismo...

Way to go Dan! Did you do that to your kids when they came home with a good report card? "Well son, you teacher is compelled to give out a certaian number of A's and B's. She was obviously grading on a curve, and we all know your classmates aren't that smart.":-)
