looks like he got too far into the turn before he needed to brake and did so too hard while also trying to turn in a bit so back end whipped around like he did

I have to agree that the video starts too late in order to determine root cause for this crash. By the time the video starts the rear end is already too far around and on the grass. Just these two things would cause a crash, but what led up to this condition...speed, braking? The only thing that we can kind of guess at is that it was driver error.
The Youtube description now has the tag Fugplatz so I assume they went too fast into Quiddelbacher Hohe and got light, on the grass, or both. In either case, hope they are ok.
THAT was a hard side impact.
I sure hope he had a HANS device..............

Was that the MSpeed Cayman? I know they crashed theirs in some race practice or some event prior to the 24 hours of the 'Ring.
