Open Track Racing
I'm going on the 6/21/08(the Saturday) and its meant to be plenty of space in all groups available all weekend. Three run groups, beginner, intermediate and advanced. Instruction available, half hour sessions, 18 cars max per group(this is nothing on a 2.6 mile track). About an hour and a quarter from Downtown Los Angeles.
I'm looking forward to trying out my Quaife
LSD. If you want to go just show up at the track at 7:00am with cash on any of the days. I have never run with these guys but a friend of mine has and he highly recommends them.

OK Racer Buddies,
The June 21 & 22, 2008 track event is rapidly approaching. This will be our last group email before the event. The gates at Willow Springs will be open at 6:30 am. When you come through the gate the track will collect $10 from you, this is Willow Springs weekend policy...not mine. If you are helping with the event, please mention your name at the gate and the $10 fee will be waived (your name will be on a list). When you first enter the grounds, please find a place to park, we have use of all the garages so please help yourself. Please do not park against the pit wall or in front of the 4 garages closest to the track/restaurant. These are reserved for the people putting on the event. Registration will begin at 7:00 am, please check in as soon as possible. There will be a mandatory 8:00 am drivers meeting, after the drivers meeting we will have classroom instruction for all newbies or people that want to attend followed by an on-track lead/follow session. The first run group will go off at 8:30 am. When you arrive at the track, please take the time to empty out the inside and trunk of your car, including floor mats and garage door openers. The restaurant will be open first thing in the morning to get hot coffee and a little something to chew on. I will be leaving for the track Friday morning, so if you need to get in touch with me you can call me at (818)802-7374. If you know someone that would like to attend, please have them be there at 7am with cash. Remember it‘s the beginning of summer so dress appropriate and drink lots of water. The projected tempeture should be a high of 89 . We run rain or shine!

LSD - Limited Slip Differential

A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.
