Single-event HPDE insurance coverage

Came across this in another forum. Anyone used this insurance or have experience with this company? Looks like a good deal for single-event coverage (1,2, 3 days) and only a 5% deductible.

Looks interesting. Do you mind sharing your quote? I don't really want to submit the form unless the price is right.

Just fill out the form with accurate KBB value plus the value of any additional mods, enter real age, fake VIN and fake name then press “Calculate Premium” and you will get a quote.

Got a quote, looks pretty reasonable.

Are you going to get it, John? Have you ever tried them before?

Wouldn't it be better to find an Insurance Company that covers DEs with their normal policy? I think I'm paying about $1100 per year and my DEs are covered.

Who do you use? Do you have it in writing that they will cover DEs?

This seems to be a grey area. Some insurance companies are specifically excluding coverage if your car so much as touches a track. Your exclusion language can change frequently and more and more insurance companies are writing stronger exclusions for DE type activity. For others, the exclusion language is less clear but the general consensus is that they will fight you over a DE claim. They may end up covering your first incident but you will most likely be dropped afterwards. Calling the company/agent is also problematic because it will alert them to your higher risk activity and they could also summarily drop you. I think a sound strategy is to purchase supplemental, track-only insurance. As someone once said, unless you’re willing to roll your car off a cliff and walk away, you should have guaranteed DE coverage. The incident at Summit Point a few weeks ago drove home that point -- see GT3 Crash at Summit Point

I'd be very interested in knowing also. I've looked high and low and have not found anyone actually willing to put it in writing.

I had USAA but they dropped coverage. I switched to Farmer's and they said I was covered, he also said another costomer did some DEs too. I didn't get it in writing. I would be interested in what a local Farmer's agent would tell you. Farmer's is A rated by AM Best.

A lot of the problems are state-sponsored...as in Massachusetts. Here the state-mandated prototype policy specifically excludes DEs; having said that my agent (who also club races) says that insurance companies are paying claims on DE episodes increasingly in the past 6-12 months...on a strictly one-shot "this can't happen again" basis...just to add confusion and uncertainty! Tread carefully here.

Thanks for this. I'll try Farmers here and circle back to you if I get an answer.

I always assume full liability when on a track. I would not expect someone else to cover a high risk activity at general risk rates. I would be interested in track day only insurance but want some assurance of the ligitimacy of the underwriter.

I'm a recent CS owner and attending my first DE event at Thunderhill Park Raceway in No. CA in two weeks. I called my agent today (Allstate). They told me I will be covered, since it's a non-racing event.
