Track Alignment

So here what I found out at my local repair shop when we attemped to set-up the alignment for track usage ie maximum negative camber. You cannot adjust the camber on the front suspension. It is fixed upper and lower with no camber plates, eccentrics, shims, etc. We are not going to attempt adjutability from the top ie cutting the shock towers and installing adjustable camber plates -concerned this could void some or all of the factory warrenty. We decided to go from below: we are installing a GT-3 lower control arm which is wider that the Caymans and it is adjustable with shims. This way we can always remove them if it becomes a warrenty issue. then we can get some negative camber in this car to get a proper contact patch with the tires and allow proper heat values accress the tread and save them from the adverse wear with the factory suspension settings.

I will probably go with the GT-3 sway bars as well if they fit. To get rid of a bit more body roll for even higher performance than stock bars.

Bottom line is a pyrometer and good tire gaige will be the measuring sticks to really see whats going on with the suspension and contact patch.

Unfortunately none of this will get done before Infineon Raceway with Coastal Driving on 6/5. Oh well will still be even more fun with my new PS Cups than California Speedway was on the last treads of the PS2's that came with the car - and that was a blast - turned 2:01's and 02's on the roval course.

I replied to you responding to your Pm. After reading this post, You can adjust camber a small amount as the upper strut bearing mountings are slotted, chassis side. Our upper strut bearing mounts can give up to 2.6ish negative camber depending on ride height. We are running the Cayman 4' off the ground measured at the lifting points. We are running 2.5' dia. springs and Leda struts since Sebring Club race. Ernie
