Looks like you're trying to find the right combination of airflow in the front of the car. I remember you said there were some cooling problems along the way. In the 2nd picture, it that a little air-exit vent in front of the hood - a la GT2/GT3/Cup cars? It look like that now that you've opened up the mifflr front vent, you have to find a place for that air to exit, rather than go underneath the car.

But then, WTF do I know?

It is Thursday morning and Ernie and I are preparing to leave for Watkins Glen for the Porsche Clash.

I am impressed with the comments you have made on this post and will respond next week.

Busy weekend ahead, we have six cars running under the MantisSport umbrella this weekend (actually we have two garages at The Glen so I won't be huddled under my umbrella all weekend)

The Cayman S is as good as it has ever been, when I asked Ernie what he felt about the car last night he just smiled, always a good sign. There will be 10 cars contesting D Class this weekend. Should be a great race, if you are in the North East come on down and be sure to drop by and say hello.

Does the car still have the impact absorber plate obstructing/rerouting air to the air filter/intake? Or has it been de-snorked?

Well now, here are the answers...

Wheels are borrowed off GT3 for the rains.

Front lower panel was cut-out to install an oil cooler, this is routed behind the impact bar and out on top of the bumper ala GT3 Cup cars. We then re-decaled the car with the full name of 'Pfaff Porsche'.

After installing the oil cooler we then made baffles for the radiators (black pieces left and right) to restrict the air flow into the radiators. We have two sets to accomodate different ambient temperatures.

Next project was to install brake cooling ducts adjacent to the oil cooler intake, brake cooling issues solved! the hosing runs through the front trunk to the wheel wells.

FVD and CDOC decals will appear from time to time as they run contingency programmes for PCA club racing. When we started to podium finish this gives us some account credits with these companies.

We are thinking of 'trashing the side markers' but only to allow more air to escape from the front bumper, replacing them might look different but would not make us faster.

Next changes, perhaps more front downforce, stay tuned...

Stan

I'm not clear on something:

You added an oil cooler in what is typically the 3rd radiator position?

The stock X51 oil cooler is almost double the size of the stock 3.4 oil cooler. Did you investigate this option?

I use the X51 oil cooler on a stock 2.5 Boxster engine for Boxster Spec. It just *barely* fits under the intake manifold.

What led you to believe the oil temps were out of control?

Did you locate the signal in the K line for oil temp? and run a gauge?

Great! to see and here that the car is doing well.
