cayman S at VIR July 3rd and 4th

happy to report I wasn't the only Cayman there. A white cayman was also present. (sorry I forgot your name) For the first time going to VIR I knew it was going to be a treat. It was 97 degrees and humid as hell but the car and tires held up well. I lost 3 mph from the top speed in 4th at redline as compared to last month at Watkins but otherwise everthing worked well. The morning of the 3rd I grabbed an instructor to learn the track. After 2 sessions I was ready to tear it up. And I did. I was chasing down 911's, Z06's and other cars that have more power and less steering. My best lap was a 2:20. Which I am told is respectable. I have no idea as I have never been here before. On the 4th of July I stepped up to the advanced/instructor group so I could stop terrorizing the intermediate group. The group had some serious cars in it. 2 viper speed GT cars, a few 911 cup cars, and some GT3's. I had no chance to hang with any cup or GT cars, but I was able to pass a 996 GT3. He would take a large gap in the straights but I was up his *** in the twisties, and he had enough so he let me by, I then proceeded to pull away through the frontesses. I got some great Tracmate data too.

To some it up it was worth the 9.5 hour drive there and back to have 1.5 days of fun at VIR, and I hope to go back next year too. Although maybe not in July when it is 97out.

LOL, VIR is a blast to drive for sure; glad you had that much good time.

Yes, 2:20 is very respectable. BMWCCA Club Racing E class cars, medium level modified E36/46 chassis (non M) run between 2:21 and 2:17, at least that's what they did last March. May be they could have done a little better if wheather was warmer; nevertheless, it is very respectable time.

PCA site is keeping records of lap times and records of various tracks from the PCA club races, might want to check out

Cheers,
