Another kill story...

yeah yeah I know.... BUT my friend wanted me to test his new Mustang GT (300hp) against my desnoked CS so we chose this open long road at 11pm....well, the CS was a clear winner by at least 6 cars in the 1/4 mile or so. Stopped at 120mph that was the agreement, as I am not so confortable going any faster than that. Then he called his friend who has a stripped down 1998 BMW 325 AC shnitzer (265hp?), the first run (10mph rolling) I managed to lead by 2 cars, but from zero, pretty much the 2 cars were equal, although I think, I started bad by having released my clutch too soon (due to the excitment) and caused my rear wheels to spin a bit. Though I shared this 2 experiences with all of you. BTW I dont agree with street racing at all, but this road which I know too well was deserted and heck I gave it a try. COCO

Thanks for sharing your story(s), but what you said above makes no sense. Bottom line is, you're against street racing, but you do it anyway? That's kind of like saying 'BTW I don't do drugs, but this drug which I know too well was sitting right there and heck I gave it a try.'

Plus, you did it multiple times, which says a lot about how strongly you feel about street racing (obviously not very). Sorry to (mildly) flame, but if you've got a story to tell, then by all means tell it, but don't throw in contradictions like your statement above. I'll join the paradox. I don't agree with street racing either, but I'll do it if there are no other cars on the street for quite a bit. If it is a street where other cars regularly travel, I am very against it.

Grandmothers are doing TRIPLE digits every single day on the Autostrada and Autobahn and nobody thinks they are 'crazed lunatics'.

Race on. Do it safe, but race on...

Its your life if there is no one else around, but don't forget the risks.

Two people died in Australia in a Ferarri F430 3 weeks ago, street racing a hotted up Ford on an open stretch of road with no other cars around. The driver lost control and came off the road going 150kph and it was all over instantly for the driver and passenger of the Ferarri.

The driver was a young father of 3, and the passenger was a female motorbike sales rep who had just delivered the Ferarri owner a new bike, and accepted a bit of a joy ride.

2 lives is a big price to pay for few minutes of stupid fun at only 90mph! Even the Ferarri at 2.5 times the cost of the Cayman can't survive hitting a tree at that speed...

Just take care out there, or save it for the track which is going to be infinitely safer than even a deserted road. There are no trees, power poles, intersections, fences and buildings at the track.

maybe it was a year 2000 or something...it was the 3 series 2 models ago. It had a AC Schnitzer plate in the engine with dyno results etc I was pretty sure it read 260HP (or close to it). The way that car pulled could not have been any less than 250hp, no way. Again, I am no expert. But 165HP sound very little unless he used nitro. He is however a tuner and an excellent driver.

Either you raced, or you didn't. Either you had fun, or you didn't. I'll bet you had fun.

RedEye, you bet ! ... BTW my good friend neighbor just got a nice EVO IX and we will have a short run sometime next week. I suspect the CS will pull more at the start but at the 1/4 we might end up pretty much even. Anyone here care to share experiences with an stock EVO???? COCOLOCO

Cocodrillo,

I look forward to seeing your results against the EVO. I believe the EVO will likely have the advantage in the beginning (because he can launch at a higher RPM w/ 4 Wheel Drive) and you will have the advantage at higher speeds (3rd gear on).

Good Luck and Happy Killing!

A couple of days ago I stopped at a light and a young guy in a pretty black Mustang GT pulled up next to me. At first I didn't look over, but out of the corner of my eye I could see movement of his arm/had out of his window. I looked over and he was making a back & forth movement with his hand as if asking to race. He was grinning as if he knew there would be no contest, but I smiled back and shook my head 'no'. I got the feeling he just wanted to see what the CS would do, and he kept motioning as if he was really impressed to see one in the flesh. Just in case, I turned my AC compressor off. I figured if he went, I'd go just a very short distance with him. As the light changed, I took off slowly but he went at a spirited pace. So, with my car in first I floored it (and I swear it chirped as the tires momentarily lost traction), and then shifted to second and it chirped again. I had already pulled on him so I backed off at about 45mph. We both smiled at each other and he continued on, slightly faster than me. It was fun for us both.
