285 710's on stock 18's

Subject line says it all. The car has Bilstein PSS9's on it. On my Boxsters the 275 Kuhmo 710 on stock 17's rubs the helper spring on the PSS9's. I run a 5mm spacer to correct this. I'm wondering if the 285 710 on stock 18inch 5 spokes will rub also? Stock sizing is 265 on the rear.

Anyone running ths combo? We are ready to AutoX the 3.8X51 car now that it has been driven for several months and the exhaust is now done.

Chad? What are you running?

I highly doubt that it will rub Brad. I have 275s, may be a little less wider than 710s 275s, there is at least 3/4' space. I have to admit that it is not a 1-1 comparison as I have Fikse 10' wheels, but I cannot imagine 285s rubbing. It should not be difficult to try it out though.

I also run 275/35-18 Nitto NT-01 on stock Cayman S wheels; they meet the specs for minimum wheel width (9') and do not rub at all. However, please note the V710 is a 285/30-18. The lower profile requires a wider wheel and Kumho lists the minimum wheel width as 9.5'. Hence, theoretically the stock wheels are not wide enough for the V710.

Not to hijack the thread but the Nitto's aren't very good autocross tires IMHO. Too hard a compound and you can't get enough heat in them to make them really stick. I haven't tracked the tire; it may be fine for the track but I am just guessing.

I can't wait for some other options and sizes for the V 710.

275 is too wide for stock rim. well, almost too wide.

i run 275 on 10' rears, it does rub my coil overs and i need 5mm spacer to clear. car is lowered a lot.

Nitto specs the 275/35-18 NT-01 as having a minimum wheel width of 9'. It works fine on the stock rim.

...as does Toyo for the RA1's. It's all good in the hood here.
