Great pic and thanks for the video link. The corkscrew dropoff doesn't look as steep from the camera as it probably feels. Thanks for sharing, and someday I will have to get back west to sample this great track. Cheers!
Leguna Seca is my favorite track! I hope to make it back out that way again someday with a Porsche. I love turn six and the corkscrew, but to me the harriest turn is turn nine (the one after the corkscrew) because you get a little offline and it becomes off camber. Seeing the video brought back memories.
sleepless, are you using a tracmate? if so is your installed backwards? when you turn left should the g's being going right. And when you brake g's should be going forward.
nice video, so you were chasing mooty for a little, sounds like fun. I wish I had faster cayman drivers at the track with me. That is the best way to get better.
I'm assuming this is the first time you've driven Laguna Seca with the Cayman? If so being a little off Mooty who has spent a fair amount of time there I believe is nothing to be ashamed of. You should be ashamed of letting those vettes past! Seriously though, looks like fun, wish you guys could make it out to Croctoberfest and we could all hit the track at the same time...
I'm using a Race Technology DL1 data logger. It is mounted correctly and the g's are showing as I would expect.
Indeed, the Corkscrew drop is amazing; you don't appreciate it until you've stood there looking down and then walking down it; it is VERY steep.
There is no shame in lagging behind Mooty, he is one fast dude and drives at 10/10ths, I drive at 9.9/10th's
Those two black Z06's were on fire all day long... very fast! The yellow one I did pass Clearly that driver was more like 8/10ths driving; no shame in that either. I passed a 996 turbo at Thunderhill a few days later in a 91 Miata (I swapped cars with a Miata owner for a session because I'd never driven one at the track... what a hoot, almost as much fun as an Elise); it always amazes me which cars are fast and which are slow...
