Having track wheels and tires is a good idea if its going to be something you do more than once a season. Lighter wheels are key and you may want strong, cheap wheels that you dont' care so much about in case they were curbed somehow. Track days will kill your street tires.
I'd say you're safe to change your oil after the track day, but your mileage may vary.
Take all the weight you can out of the car - I take out spare tires, jack, tools, etc.
Make sure you wear pants and closed toe shoes and other appropriate attire, or you will not be allowed to race.
Check your tire pressure very carefully.
Your first lap or run, take it EASY, its a walk through of the layout. Do NOT rip it up the first time.
Warm up the engine before your run, and don't shut it right off right after the run. Don't put the parking brake on right after your run when the brakes are hot.
Stay calm.
Thats all I can think of.
