Clutch problem(s)???

Have been been aware of reported clutch problems in past threads but none seemed to match my symptoms.

9000 miles over 8 months:

Once in awhile, if I am shifting between 1st to 2nd (light/med throttle), there is resistance where I "automatically" double clutch to get through it. Happens once or twice a week and not related to whether the transmission is warmed up or not. It has become a habit where I don't even think about it much and just thought of it while posting the below problem.

If I am caught in heavy traffic for 30 minutes or so, sometimes letting out the clutch from first gear from a stop seems a little "mushy". In other words, I have to rev a little higher maybe 2k to make sure I don't stall. In two instances, I had to rev close to 3k and let the clutch out slow to get started and it most definitely produced that "burnt" smell (very familiar with from S2000 days). I didn't hear any unusual noises when doing this but it seemed like it was only partially catching when releasing the clutch. Other times, the shifting works perfectly fine and this has been going on for three months just enough to make wonder if this is just the way it is. Thoughts?

clutch

After running a DE I sat idling for about 5 min. w/ clutch depressed while listening to instructor. When thru started to let out clutch and it was stuck on floor.Had to reach down and pull it out. high resistance and made loud popping noise. This happened twice more w/ clutch sticking when releasing a few inches off the floor. Now pedal is squeaking.

Same advice for both of you - take it into the dealer pronto.

Jesse - Sounds like two things... Shift linkage problems, and something definitely wrong with the clutch - having to rev it that high to get going is not normal... you're now burning the clutch... get it looked at, it will probably get worse... not sure if it's the flywheel bolts or something different...

cosmo - probably the slave cylinder or a problem with the return spring, either way, get it looked at.

Guys - use the warranty that was part of the price of the car.

Wishful thinking

Thanks Beez, just a pain to take it in to the dealer (Walter's Riverside). No loaner cars just a deal with Enterprise rentals which are garbage vehicles.

I have it scheduled for Monday to take it in so will see what comes out of it.

FYI, this might be outdated but I always thought it's not good for sth or another to keep the clutch depressed for long periods...

First problem regarding double clutching every once in awhile was fixed (maybe, we'll see) by a shift linkage cable not set properly whatever that means.

Second problem was not reproducible by them so not going to do anything about it. If the clutch burning smell and slipping happens again, I know a little better on how to "report" it so that they will tear it down to inspect it fully. It is remotely possible that the shift linkage cable might have contributed to this happening...
