On the way home from work, I noticed my red air bag warning light on the dash of my 06 CS came on. I searched the forum, and adjusted both the driver seat and passanger seat (forward and backward) and both inclined away away from firewall, but to no avail. Has anyone else had this? Am I missing something?
UPDATE: The first time I went to the dealership, they cleared the code and it stayed away. The second time the light came on, I went back and they replaced the seat cushion frame because they believed the frame was somehow bent. The third trip back they found out that it was a pinched/shorted wire under the seat. They repaired that and I *knock on wood* have not had the warning light since.
Well if you have moved the seats forward, no mods I guess you could check the fuses. If you take it to the dealer be sure and report back for the rest of us.
The Owner's Manual also has this "If there is a fault in the belt-tensioner system, the
airbag warning light lights up. Work may be performed on the belt-tensioner system
only by an authorized Porsche dealer."
I have a visit to the dealer scheduled - no highway trips till it gets checked out! Once I have it repaired, I will post the problem - thanks for the concern!
I brought the car in today and just picked it up. They reset the computer and the light went out. I asked if I could have possible done something to trigger the warning light and he said that as long as I didn't let someone who weighed 800 lbs in the seat, he didn't think so! Well, since I have had the car, no one over 200lbs has been in that seat. He said if the light comes on again, they might have to replace one of the four sensors in the seat. Hopefully, it was something bizarre that happened and it won't come back on - keeping my fingers crossed.
My airbag malfunction light on the dash came on about ten days ago after I ran the battery flat by not driving the car for a week and not using the Porsche battery tender during that week.
I tried everything I could think of including disconnecting the battery again for ten minutes but none of that work. The local dealers (400 miles away) said, "Bring it in for us to reset the computer."
Yesterday I used the Durametric software to reset that malfunction and several others that occurred when my battery went flat.

After installing mine last weekend, I decided to take it around the block to see if I needed to adjust anything before I reinstalled the console... And then the warning light came on. It came on as soon as I started the car up.
Using the "Computer Stalk" on the left side of the Steering column, I navigated to something called "messages?" and it said "airbag malfunction". After I reinstalled the console the message went away, but the airbag dash light remains.
It's also possible that the little plug to the passenger airbag warning light in the console came loose. This is probably the system component that's unhappy.
Yeah. That's what I was thinking, too. Disconnecting the center console light may have upset the warning light. The other thing I though would be the seats all the way back but after moving them, light is still on. So did you take it into the dealership to have them reset the light?
I got an airbag warning recently. Turned out to be a recall item - something with the wiring harness for the airbag?? Not quite sure, but the dealership fixed it n/c.
