I am having major problems with the key sensitivity problems. I DID do a search and went to the files section and could not download the file that I thought applies.
Is there a solotion to the key sensitivity problem? Are dealers aware of it?
I see no reason why I should have to worry about it all the time, how and where I carry my key. I am tired of it. I feel it is the dealers/Porsche problem, that they are aware of. Prior to delivery of my car, I gave that as an issue that I wanted to be sure was taken care of before I got my car. It was not.
So again, is there a solution of the key sensitivity problem? If so, do dealers know it, and are some using it? My dealer is unaware of such and says that it will go away with time. That doesn't suffice for me. I will go away in time too...hopefully many years from now....
Where can I find a copy of a solution so that I can give it to my dealer please? It is getting annoying and I strongly believe that Porsche/dealer should fix it.
There is a TSB about this issue. The dealer will change the timing in PIWIS so that you have to depress the buttons longer to get the trunk lids to release. Call your dealer about this TSB 9669 it is an update from TSB 9662:
PIWIS - Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System
Porsche Integrated Workshop Information System (diagnostic tester) This device is used to test various aspects of your Cayman's computer and electronic systems. These units cost over $12,000 to purchase and are connected to Porsche via a wireless connection at the dealership so that your Cayman's information can be sent to Porsche whenever your car is attached for diagnosis. The PIWIS device has the ability to control almost any system in your car provided that your car has the appropriate control units and programming installed. Your dealership may not perform some activities such as disabling safety equipment.
And if it is any consolation my Audi key is more sensitive than my Cayman key. So a small adjustment in my habits made the problems go away for both cars.
I would recommend the Mods4Cars solution to the problem.
Mods4Cars
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.

Thanks for the links. I did see them in the Files Section. I didn't think that the first one applied. I tried to download the second one previously, but it does not download for me, before or now. The first one does.
Thanks.

The key wears in and the sensitivity reduces over time. My key rarely misbehaves any more at all.

I went back and looked at that second link and it indeed no longer works. It was an article on how to open the key and wear down the contact points inside the key. I believe it showed how to shave off 1mm-2mm so you have to press harder to activate the functions of the key.

Thanks for posting that. I wish I had known about that several weeks ago. When I asked the service manager about my sensitive key he looked at me like I was a nut.

I don't have to press my key. I just look at it and the trunk opens.

Take your car in and bring a copy of the TSB (TSB 9662 9). They hook the car up to PIWIS and adjust the response timing.
