"Check Passenger Seat Settings"

Every so often (rarely) while driving, I get a little message on my instrument cluster display that says merely "Check Passenger Seat Settings". Anyone else have this or know what it means?

Funny, I got this yesterday. Here's what happened. I was taking my wife to lunch; as she got in the car she adjusted the seat rearward and as I drove off the warning popped on. I'm not sure (this is my speculation) but I think the seat wasn't "clicked in" the track because it was flush against the rear wall. I had her move it up a bit and made sure I heard the "click in" and the warning disappeared.

Clearly, I have the standard (manual adjust) seats.

From the manual:
Check passenger’s seat setting:

Weight sensing is impaired on the
passenger’s seat (Advanced Airbag).
When the backrest is in contact with
the engine compartment wall, the
backrest can warp. Correct the
seating position, set the backrest
upright, do not support weight on the
armrests, or lift on the handles.

Great job, Lexicon!!! Fantastic example of members helping members. Not to mention the reference to the manual, Santa Fe would be so proud.

I think that there must be a way to put some sort of mechanical stop on the passenger seat frame, so that the next to the farthest adjustment rearward becomes the farthest. Perhaps Porsche should consider that ... then this wouldn't pop up on every car that we see

As it is, whenever someone puts the seat all the way back in my CS, I just tell them that at that setting they aren't going to be protected by the airbag - their choice

Thanks for the kudos. Actually the kudos goes right back to this website. I highly recommend downloading the manual from the files section. I merely opened the 2007 manual in acroread and did a search for "check passenger" and it took me right to this section after about 3 hits. Very useful to have the manual in electronic format, so cheers to whomever took the time to capture it.
