Slight "surge" @ 3000 rpm?

Hi All-

I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing an intermittent mild "surge" at 3000 rpm when leisurely accelerating through the gears (6 speed). It doesn't always show itself but when it does, the symptom is that the engine seems to have a slight rpm surge at approximately 3000 rpm.

Just curious if this is an isolated problem with my vehicle or are others also seeing this.

Thanks,

Intresting observation. My CS exhibits a very slight dead spot around 3000 rpm.

No problem. If you look at the torque curve chart in the owner's book you'll see a slight "blip" around 3000 RPM. I've only noticed it under light load. If you can hammer the hell out the engine & never feel it.

Thanks,
Hi Tracy,

I feel it too...under the exact situation...gentle acceleration...but I think it's a reaction to the torque dip and then a sudden recovery.... I find it very annoying as I don't "floor" all my accelerations.

Nice seeing you Sunday at the Meet & Greet

Cheers

Bob

Noticed the same issue on 2007 Base Model

I've noticed the same issue on my base model (5 speed). I've had two Boxsters (2006 and 2002) and never had the problem.

I thought the vario-cam kicked in around 4500 - 5000 rpm, not at 3000.
