Steering Wheel off center

Ok today was really my first extensive drive in my new CS... 60miles... and I noticed the steering wheel was was off centered. The car's alignment seem perfectly fine... the car tracks straight but the top of the steering wheel is not at 12 o'clock. Instead its at 12:45 ish.

So basically to keep the car going straight I would have to point my steering wheel a little to the right all the time.

Would the dealer take care of this problem? Its more of an annoyance to me than a problem... Or would they say I need a new alignment and charge me?

The car now has ~150 miles total on it.

your dealer will fix this under warranty - wheel should be straight, for sure.

Cool. That's what I thought... and hope... but just wanted to make sure. I'll give the service department a call tomorrow and schedule an appointment...

Probably explains why you think the steering wheel is off-center. Sit up straight.

Now that's funny,
Sounds like alignment but in socal the roads are pretty well crowned so be sure you are on the flat. The 405 always makes me think my car is pulling.

How many miles do you have on it? I think theres a limited mileage where Porsche will do it under warranty. My friend with a 997tt said he thinks its under 1200 miles... and told me to go do it asap so I did...

I just got my car back today from the dealer. They did a 4 wheel alignment under warranty. Plus two other recall campaigns. Clutch slave cylinder and door screw.

I havent really had a chance to double check and make sure its properly aligned... it looked ok... but it was dark when I picked the car up I'll look more closely tomorrow.

If the car is relatively new the dealership should fix an off center steering wheel. (Especially if it was off center from the day you got it.) It's a defect ( a cosmetic defect but a defect nevertheless).

I don’t want to hijack the thread but it occurs to me that we sometimes let dealers off the hook too easily. Many service managers have learned that they can blow a customer off. (“All Caymans do that.” “That can’t be fixed.” I’ll fix it but there will be a big charge.”) If the service manager tells me that something can’t be done - and I think it should - I try to state my case with a firmer argument. If that doesn’t work I go to the next person up the ladder. If the dealership won't help me I will go to the regional service rep.

Four years ago my wife had a Mercedes E320 that was a "new model year car". It was constantly having problems. I was constantly getting the run around at the dealership. I called the regional service rep and finally got some satisfaction. (Later I learned that Mercedes knew that particular model was a piece of junk.)

The unfortunate thing about an off center steering wheel is that the dealer can claim that you did it. "You must have hit a pot hole." If you don't think you did it don't give in.
