On the few occasions when I lock my car (and, of course, then have to unlock it), I can clearly hear the locks engage and later dis-engage. I don't quite understand what the issue/problem is.

Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.
Porsche have cleverly designed their cars with a system to help all of you with this problem.
After locking the car, hearing the locks drop, watching the indicators flash twice and seeing the interior lights extinguish, you can use the fourth manual confirmation device. It's a small handle on the door. If you raise this and the door doesn't open, the car is locked. If the door opens, repeat the process from the start.

Those crafty Germans, they think of everything!
All could be solve if there were separate and distinct lock and unlock buttons like all other manufacturers.
Wouldn't that be the next best thing coming out of Stuttgart since mid engine porsches.
If you lock your car - then unlock it by accident as you walk away - it is just going to re-lock itself. It will always return to the locked position unless you open a door.

I actually like that the remote lock/unlock is a "toggle" function. This way, I don't have to look at the remote to figure out which button to push, I can do it by feel. My wife's VW has separate buttons for lock and unlock, and it's a pain to have to stop and look at the remote to find the right button to push before I can get in or walk way.

Good point - I forgot that it did that (as I discovered accidentally a couple of weeks ago - I know, should have read the manual . . . again )
