rattles and squeaks

I have to take my car in tomorrow to the local dealer to see if they can sort out a lot of rattles and squeaks. The worst is in the headliner right above the driver seat and in the rear right between the two seats. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what was it. Trying to get a lead on some solutions before they pull the whole headliner and still can't fix it. Are there any clips up there that could have come loose. Any clues would be appreciated.

Mine does it too. Was thinking about brining it in soon for this and the Hatch rattle.

Plastic "baffles" in CS headliner

Moralem,

Sorry to hear you are experiencing rattles, squeaks, etc. but just about everyone on this site seems to have the same issues. I continue to push on moldings, examine the CHIMSL, etc. and have had some success in eliminating rattles. I am determined to try and sort this out myself, rather than getting the dealer involved.

On a recent trip to the dealer my service manager told me a CS owner had a rattle in the headliner. He said there are plastic "baffles" between the headliner and the metal roof. They were able to replace the loose baffle and eliminate the customer's problem. I hope yours is not a "headliner out" job, but I thought I would let you know what the service manager said.

Good luck!

For what it's worth I have had the interiors out of many cars. I did the rear hatch tightening to stop the hatch rattle a couple of weeks ago (it did work BTW) plus had a chance to see how the Porsche doors are assembled and I was really impressed with what Porsche has done to eliminate or at least reduce the possibilities of rattles. There are a lot of grommets and insulators in the body panels all designed to make the car tight and rattle free. It has to be a challenge given that our cars have such firm suspension. Also I have been surprised at how many dealers really work with the customer to find the rattles. I know it is of no consolation but there is a lot of design work that has been done to make the interiors of these cars rattle free.
