Here are some still shots from this weekend's PCA Club Race & DE. This is at Eagle's Canyon Raceway in Sanger, TX - exiting turn 11.

Reason: correction - was exiting turn 11, not entering
Well I think Porsche ought to do something about that anyway, how can it be possible that an icon of performance cars does not perform?!!! Its a shame really, maybe the faceliftet caymans wont have that?!
Btw, is this problem only in the 987 range?? I know the TT/GTX engines are different, but what about the Carrera? does it have the same problem?

A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!
3.6 and 3.8L motors don't seem to have this problem, has anyone run a parts # check on the oil separators used in those engines?
Caygirl, that's what oil ingestion looks like! It's a shame that this has been going on for 2+ years now with no solution from Porsche as of yet available. I wonder if anyone has written them about it or anything?

What an exceptional idea K-Man S. Not bad thinkin for a guy that drives a yellow car.
Please let me know if you would be willing to sign a diplomatic letter to Porsche stating our oil ingestion concerns and respectfully requesting a fix. Thanks!

This is very bad negative publicity, I think they know now.
A picture is worth a thousand words.
I would not have bought my Porsche Cayman S if I knew this.

Yes I would be happy to sign a diplomatic letter to Porsche stating my concerns about oil ingestion and requesting a fix for the Cayman which could be applied to all existing cars.
I'm Glad you all agree - we need to show our VIN numbers, to show that we are 'real' and for Porsche to understand the concerns, and to apply a suitable response.
I am not certain the best way of doing this, but concurr wholeheartedly - having the Mantissport sump, AND running it low I still have the same problem.....
The 997 and 996 all have this problem (excluding GT3 and Turbo, which have a 964 block and dry sump). But its not as severe, because the engine in the 987 is installed backwards.
I can't look at my old oil separator at the moment, because I am remodeling and its at the bottom of a heap of boxes.... But I do think it does have a 986 part number on it.
Review of the PET indicates that he 997 (non-S) and the 987 share the same AOS PN (996 107 026 00), but the 997S has a completely different system.
Review of the 997S PET diagram shows what appears to be to three different air/oil separation units, one on each head and one central unit in series with the head units. I do not know if this system can be adapted to the 987/997 motor.
The installation of the motorsports AOS in my car is nearly complete. I stopped by the shop to take a look, and the work is coming along fine. This modification is not for timid though, as it r
