Key remote not working on 08 cayman S

Guys this is gonna sound strange but since this is happened a few times now i thought i should post this odditie, why doesnt my key remote work when im in the city but when i leave the city it works fine???? I had to manually lock/unlock the car all day again and i set off the alarm a couple times too. Yes i know i should contact dealer but i know it will work if they test it since they are not located in the city. has this happened to anyone else...it wasnt humid at all and the key wasnt dropped in water or anything...

I'm guessing interference from something else. If you haven't tried parking in a slightly different location (or a totally different location), I'd try that first before taking it to the dealer.

Good luck!

That's happened to me a few times over the winter whenever my car is parked for over a week. It's as if the key lost power, I then open it manually which sets off the alarm, yet the remote can defeat the alarm. No explanation......is the battery in the key fob a rechargeable?....that recharges when in the ignition switch? I thought of this because BMW's keyless start remote requires charging via ignition switch once in a while.

The problem you describe is a little different and is a normal function (described in the manual):

"The remote-control standby function switches off after 7 days
If the vehicle is not started or unlocked with the remote control within five days, the remote control standby function is switched off (to prevent discharging of the car battery).
1. In this case, unlock the driver’s door with the key at the door lock.
Leave the door closed in order to prevent the alarm system from being triggered.
2. Press button 1 on the remote control.
The remote control is now activated again."
