My '69 GMC truck was ordered with a blue interior. Every damn thing inside the damn truck is blue.
Same thing with a Cayman. You order Terra Cotta and every damn thing inside is Terra Cotta, including the steering wheel!
I think this is a huge mistake. You look at a BMW. If you get tan or terra cotta or whatever, the dash is always black (to prevent sun glaring off a tan dash) and the steering wheel is black. The upper door trim is black where you put your arm all the time and get it dirty. BMW is being sensible.
Are the designers at Porsche stupid or are they trying to make more money by selling you black parts to go in your monotone interior circa 1969?
There was a time not too long ago when Porsche charged extra for a steering wheel the color of the interior. I for one like the monochromatic interior. I ordered an exterior-color rear center console. However, for no additional cost, you can order floor mats in any color available. That's enough, in many instances, to break up a solid interior, and if you're worried about dirt, there's always black. No offense, but I don't think that anyone, anywhere, will ever confuse your Cayman with a '69 GMC! 987f

You may think the (mostly) monochrome interiors are a mistake, but they actually cost Porsche quite a bit more to implement, because they have to have so many more parts around (and build what they need in lower volumes). Monochrome is a premium feature. Interiors like the BMWs are a cost saving. You may like them better, but they're cheaper to build, and that's why BMW does it that way. Way back when BMW interiors were monochrome too.
You can have a Porsche interior done any way you like as long as you have the money to pay for it. Want purple and black w/ yellow stitching? Porsche Exclusive will be happy to accomodate any taste that comes with a fat wallet. A black dash a/o steering wheel doesn't seem to be much of an obstacle to Porsche ownership, but the reference to your truck suggests that black trim is not the only issue.
Trolling or not, I am another that thinks that there should be a reasonably priced option for a darker color (not necessarily black) for the dash, steering wheel, and tops of each door panel. Porsche offers one version with the two-tone option (BG).
I would have liked a beige interior with darker accents - Cocoa or some darker brown? The Carrera Red is another color that might look good in two-tone (black?)

yeah, really weird comparing a GMC truck to a Porsche
And there are no such problems as you say with Terracotta, no glare and I put my arm all the time and the arm-rest and the door handle do not get dirty!

A good car will get you from point A to point B. A great car... will just get you into trouble!
Maybe your not seeing the point of customization (AKA "youification" in other car cultures)? Download an ordering guide here. You can have painted or change just about any interior component to leather, paint, aluminum, different woods, anything you want. Mix and match.
And this is not even talking about the exclusive department. There, if you can think about it or create it, they can probably build it exactly the way you want. There is no more possible flexibility than that. Want some ostrich leather in a certain color? Just ask. You don't even have to send the car to Unique Autosport and get on TV. PAG will do it for you OEM.
Will BMW do that? (I really don't know). In fact, what other marquees will do that? Does anyone know?
IMO, PAG provides the ultimate in flexibility. You got the money, they will build it. I wonder if anyone has built a leather interior and then changed various components to wood and others to CF. I'm sure somebody has thought of it.
With a screen name of BMW335cab and so few posts, you seem to be trolling!
Are you sure you want your next car to be a Cayman?
No I am not sure. I am looking into it. I drive a 335 Cabrio now and I was kinda wishing at one point I had gotten a Cayman. But as I look at people buying black parts on E-bay to desperately get rid of a monochromatic interior, and all the people chiming in on how good it looks and where did they get the parts, etc. I say that Porsche should make it standard that way like BMW and Audi. Not because others do it but because it looks much better to have a black dash and black steering wheel and black console. This would be one less concern when ordering that I am going to have to pay also for all these black parts to achieve a normal looking interior.

Not really. I don't mean to say that they are the same except in the interior philosophy. Nobody else mistook what I was saying but you. But there is the greatest bit of truth in the slightest bit of jest. I remember in my youth our '69 GMC truck and it was very strange that every trim bit in the truck was blue. I never saw any other manufacturer do that but General Motors and Porsche.
Dude . . . If you want "a normal looking interior" then you're definately on the wrong website. My buddy has a 911 cab with a tan interior and black mats. Looks trick.
I think Buick makes a nice two tone interior.
