This occurs right after suspension has been changed. Whenever I go on speed bumps, uneven road. I can hear it. It is very annoying. I brought the car back and they put some lube on it but still it is the same. It sounds like the plastic pieces grinding, very annoying! I am not sure if this is trunk clunk.
You would know the trunk clunk if you had it! No rubbing sound, just a thumping noise when you hit a big bump. My interior makes some noises as it adjust to temperature changes, then it is fairly quite. I have the stock suspension.

Well, I've had a kind of rattling sound in the back before from one of the tail light covers and the privacy screen, when their little fasteners weren't tightened enough (easy fix). Not sure what would cause a grinding sound though . . .

I also have a chirp from the rear hatch area. It seems to be the plastic trim piece at the top (on the inside of the hatch). I got rid of it by loosening and refastening the 2 clips on the left. I am pretty sure it is caused when these clips are not properly secured. Hope this helps- there is nothing more annoying than a rattle in a porsche

I had a high treble rattle coming from the driver side rear on bumpy roads. I had a passenger look back to see if anything was moving around. Sure enough, the privacy screen was tapping against the aluminum (or whatever metal it actually is) engine frame. I can even see the rubbed out spot on the aluminum finish and on the plastic bit on the privacy screen.

What doesn't rattle in a Porsche?
When on a rough road that reaches a resonant frequency it's much easier to list what isn't rattling inside my Cay S than what is.
If you changed your suspension then obviously they had to remove plastic parts in the rear to do so. Either they weren't reinstalled correctly or they were damaged in the work, or your suspension strut tower center shaft is too long and contacting these piecesl, or something of that ilk. I would take it back to the place that did your suspension install.

The noise is the plastic pieces squeaking/rattle. Yeah I left my car back there for two days and still the same or I should say it got worse? By removing and lube it or whatever and put it back together. Kind of lame, brought it to back to porsche dealer and they said it's common on a cayman especially in Taiwan's roads. I think these people are just lazy to deal with rattles. Duh. It's very annoying.

I had h&r springs before then I replaced it back to stock now. I also had Damptronic installed but removed back to stock since I had noises. I think now the noise is the plastic pieces grinding the plastics inside.

Oh, and I've just hit 240 miles on the odometer.
This has been the most disappointing and embarrasing thing about owning this car. It's not one or two things. It's the air vents, the cup holder, the sport chrono wart, and 6-10 miscellaneous things behind my head. A Porsche shouldn't rattle like an '81 Corolla.
Sport Chrono and Chrono Plus
This optional package is a valuable addition for trackday use. Available in conjunction with the CDR-24 CD radio, it includes a swivel-mounted analog and digital timer unit which is centrally located on the dashboard. All functions are easily accessible via the control stalk for the on-board computer. Analog dials measure hours, minutes and seconds, while a separate digital field displays whole seconds, tenths and one hundredths of a second. A second digital display runs in parallel in the instrument cluster. Click this Link to visit the FAQ entry for Sport Chrono.

I have some odd rattles too - but ****, the Chicago roads bring out the worst. I recently had Loeber try to fix a chirping sound which I think is coming from the passenger side rear. It sounds almost like a metal on metal buckle clanking together over certain bumps. Of course, they have the car for 3 days, fix nothing and I get it back with even more rattles from the plastic pieces covering the struts. Ill just have to wait and do the job right myself when I get back home to IC in August.

What's worse, the fact that PCNA will try two or three times to ineffectively fix the rattles before declaring them "normal" (read: we won't pay for any more rattle searches under warranty) or the fact that they once again were rated the most defect-free new cars?
I honestly believe it's because so many people are so jazzed to just be driving a Porsche they overlook the rattles
