Steering Creak

At low speeds, in and out of the garage, I hear a creak when turning my steering wheel. Not sure what it might be. Anyone else with this problem?

Might be the tires scrubbing on the asphalt as you turn the wheels. If so, it's normal. Does it happen at all speeds, or just very slow speed?

Normal. Do a search on steering noise. A bunch of others have asked the question.

It doesn't seem normal for the bushings to creak. Is this something that others have had to have fixed? My 10 year old track car doesn't make such noises!

If you can find the other posts you can see the complete explanation. No there is nothing to fix and the bushings are not what you are hearing. If my Internet connection was not acting up I'd find them for you but I think you will if you take the time to look.

Hi,
On a R/H/Drive car, I get a knocking type noise when turning to full lock, then turning the steering rapidly on and off the full lock position.
Apparently it is the hammering effect of the power steering fluid in the pipes under the floor. Very disconcerting, but again, apparently it is considered a normal characteristic of the system. I only hear it if I try to reproduce it, otherwise, it's fairly quiet. Any other R/H/Drive guys/girls get the same?
P.S. the same noise can be heard very slightly when turning into a driveway with a degree of lock applied. I think this is normal also.

Haven't heard a 'creak'...well, not from the steering anyway.

Sante Fe, would you mind giving a short synopsis on posts you are talking about. What the problem is, what people have tried, what to expect... Your response would make a good sticky in this section.

Here is one to read. Strange noise while backing and Front end clunking? There are several more on the same line. Unless you have an unlikely power steering failure then it is normal and you don't do anything to fix it.

The other noise that you sometimes hear is described here: differential binding?

Again nothing to fix. Lots of things like this can be found by using the search tool imaginatively (hint try different terms and limit the search to the proper forum for best results).
