rattle sound comes from driver side window

Recently, when I drive over rough road, I notice this annoying noise coming from my left side and behind me (nor far behind me, like within a feet or two) which I am guessing it is from the window. Its not as loud and fast as chunk sound, but its right next to my ear.

Today, I closed all the window and turn off the CD, try to find out where did it comes from. However, when I closed my left window, the sound was gone. But when I turned the window all the way down, it re-appeared.

Right now, all I know is the sound will appear only when my left side window is more than half way down.
If the window is half way and up, it is fine.

does anyone has same problem?

Chances are it's coming from the driver's side rear window. I've taken my car in to the dealer numerous times to have this fixed. Each time, the noise comes back after a few weeks. It sounds like metal against glass - or a "chirp" sound. As the car flexes, that rear window is rubbing against the frame or clips or something. It flexes more with the window down.

I have this too, it has been back to the dealership once and it was better for a while, I am going to be taking it back in again soon. The best description of it to me is a chirping sound.

Just got my '07 back yesterday from the dealer for exactly the same thing. It was aggravating because it would come and go and seemed to act up more in warm weather. Anyway they took the entire left rear panel window out, tightened some loose mounts and ad-hoc engineered some extra insulation around the window. So far so good. Now I can just focus on the occasional trunk thump but I can live with that compared to the chirping. Drove me nuts.

the rattle (ta,ta,ta,ta, driving me crazy) sound is back.

If the window is half way and up, then it is fine.

it sounds like comming from somewhere arround the driver seatbelt.

where can't i get a manual that can show me how to take out the cover that cover the seatbelt?

thanks

It's the nut holding the window frame. Have them tighten it again and use loctite.

last week my driver side window would only go down half way, and dealer replaced the seal.

but the rattle sound is still there.
do you think they forget tighten it?

Can i do it myself?
or it is the job, that need to remove the door panel (2-3hr)?

thanks

guys, this is so easy to fix yourself, stop fooling with the dealer. first remove the plastic piece from where the seat belt comes out (see K-mans article when he changed his seat belt, it is under cosmetic mods in the articles). to remove it you just pull up real hard, it will not break. then just pull it down the seat belt out of the way. then you will see a nut (about 15mm, just a guess) that tightens the B-pillar to the car. tighten this nut with an open end wrench, but don't over do it. I promise all the rattles described above are this problem and will go away after you do this. then just snap the plastic seat belt cover back. any questions pm me.

This "chirp" isn't related to the seatbelt bolt. The glass is rubbing against its retaining clips or the surrounding enclosure. I'm really surprised that Porsche hasn't figured out a fix for this.
