Smoking upon start-up, should I take it in?

I have read the other threads about smoking but they seem to deal with issues after track days. My CS has begun to smoke upon start-up after sitting a couple of days. If I drive my CS every day I don't have the smoking issue. If I let it sit for two or three days, it will smoke for a few seconds upon the first start-up. The whole rest of the day it will never smoke again. Should I bring it in to the dealer? I guessing they will probably want to keep it for a few days to see if they can recreate the issue. I don't want to leave it that long or let it sit outside behind the shop. Has anyone brought their CS in to the dealer for this issue?

Totally normal for a flat-six... do a little more looking around and you'll find a lot of people ask this question... also see the FAQ:

The Cayman Club - FAQ: Indiosyncrasies

Lots of good stuff there - take a look around...

Agree fully with beez.

I've also found that the amount and frequency of smoke can also depend on the slope on which your car is parked.

I have a fairly steep driveway. If I park up the driveway with the rear of the car 'facing down hill', then I will get a reasonably thick puff every morning. Obviously my drive is steep enough for the oil in the sump to coat the rear cylinder walls. Hasn't posed any problems, except embarrasment if the neighbours are watching

I've also found if I start the car, move it and shut it off without letting it warm up it smokes the next time I start it. If the car is still warm this isn't an issue.
