Windows goes up slightly when the door is opened

Hello fellow clubsters,

It's probably somewhere on this site but I could not find it. I have a strange issue with the 08CS windows as follows:

- If the window is all the way down and I open the door, the window comes up about a 1/4 inch.
- When I close the door, it goes back down.
- Once, I'm not sure of the reason, it would not come back down when I closed the door. I used the window lever to move it back down.

Anyone have any input on this as to why this is happening?

Cheers!

It is quite normal, it is the door 'anti rattle function'.

By coming up a 1/4 of an inch it prevents the glass rattling in the door when you slam the door shut.

Strange but true.

Strange but true.

... or is it a byproduct of the "window up" function when you close the door related to high speed (?) -- maybe both ...

Nope it is definitely a designed in function. Bizarre the function maybe, but more bizarre is that it can be turned off by using the PIWIS.

So if you were to hate the 1/4 inch up and down then perhaps you can ask a dealer to turn it off.

A word of warning though, the dealer will first look at you and tell you it can't be done, or if you find a dealer who knows his way around the 'un-documented' PIWIS coding, he will charge you a shirt to have it de-coded and another when you get fed up with that rattle!!
