Issue with fuse for 12V port

Wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem.
I've connected the electric airpump twice and it burned the fuse twice.
Scenario:
1. Connect pump to the 12V port
2. Power "on"
3. Works fine
4. Power "off"
5. Connect the other end to the tire
6. Power "on"
7. Last 1-2 second then it stops

This happend two times in a row so was wondering if anyone is having this issue? Or maybe someone know what I am doing wrong?
I will need to get the fuse replaced again but this is a bit annoying even thought they are cheap and easy to replace. I can't really use that pump if this is the case.

Are you sure that you are using the correct outlet?

Hmm...I guess I should give that a try next time.
I've tried the passenger side one and the cetner console on.
Haven't tried the cig lighter place.
I am just curious why this should be a problem.
Anyone else having the same issue? Maybe it is written somewhere that I must use the cig lighter outlet?

Anyway, thanks for the replies.

It's in the manual, and in our very own Cayman Club FAQ:

Thanks...it is written somewhere.
I just can't read.
Good, then I will just go pick up some fuse and install it myself.

Your just drawing too much current.
Check the fuse panel fuse chart, if I recall the cig socket has a larger fuse current rating than the other one. Too slack to check myself.

Page 149 of the MY08 Owner's Manual - The lighter receptal is not to be used for electrical accessories (except for the tire filling compressor).

Page 231 of the MY08 Owner's Manual - Step13 - Connect the compressor to the cigarette lighter...

Hope this helps.

That's what I get for not reading the manumal...haha
The dealership didn't even tell me this last time.

The 12V outlet seems to be using a 7.5 amp fuse
Also, is the cig lighter outlet using a separate fuse? I don't think it is because it won't work with it now but if it is, why would that one work and not blow out the fuse?

Well I really cant tell why, but its probably because of increased load on the 12V, perhaps it has less resistance!

In any way, I didnt think Porsche was messing with us when they said not to do that, so I didnt
