dead battery and puddle under car

I hadn't driven my car in about 2 weeks so this past Friday I had time to get it out and run up town but I soon found out that the battery had went south.
I jumped it off and went on my way. Long story short, I had to stop for gas so guess what, it wouldn't start. I had to get a towing company out to jump me off.

I called my local Porsche dealer the following day and explained what had happened so he suggested filling the battery fluids and charge it. I did this and it seems to have corrected the battery problem.

However, I washed it today and noticed a dried puddle of of something where the car was parked in the garage. I hope its coolant and not anything to do with the battery acid. So, the puddle is on the right side in the front fairly close to the right front tire.
One other thing, Last night I took the car out for a drive for about 1 1/2 hrs so given its so hot I hope its coolant.

Has anyone else expereinced this?

David

Sounds like water to me. That is normal for this time of year. Air Conditioners work by removing water to make cool air and the water exits at about where you describe. There are plenty of stories about not driving the car frequently enough to keep the battery charged. Do a search on battery chargers, battery extenders and check out the FAQ's for more.

If you look on the right side undercarriage, just aft of the front wheel housing (adjacent to the jacking point) you will see a small, corrugated plastic tube. This is the drain for the gutter that is at the base of the windshield. Whenever I wash my car I will use my hand as a squeegee (sp?) to push the water in the gutter to the right side and watch it drain out that tube. Good idea to make sure that the tube drains freely especially in the fall when leaves can get inside and clog it up.

My real concern was battery acid. So, I stopped by the dealer today and they showed me a small hose that is connected to the battery which they told me that was there for boil over or over fills(which I did).
I got under the edge of the car behind the right front tire and can see the hose. There was a little corrosion on the metal next to it so I ended up spraying the under carraige down.

So, if the hose I saw was for the compartment up top then where is the battery drianing to?

I hoped it to be the air conditioner but I didn't use it at the time I noticed it.
I ended up cleaning the buddy under the car and think its battery acid because it took the finish off the concrete and now the finish is real sandy instead of smooth.
