Sound From Rear Hatch

I noticed that when I take a bump the rear hatch bangs and sounds like it is open. I have made sure that it is properly closed and I am still hearing this. Just wondering if this was normal.

Thanks

I've had this sound. It can be mitigated by adjusting the 2 rubber stops at each corner of the inside of the hatch. Screw them out some so there is more pressure on the latch, more compression of the periimeter hatch gasket.

Just had mine in for this. It turned out that the inside hatch covering was not properly fasted to the hatch.

Thats body flex on the rear end your hearing. The lid is not flexing and when you go over the bumps thats the sound. A rear Strut bar would fix it I am sure. I had the same problem in my97 BMW 318ti. It would be great if an aftermarket company could come out with a rear strut brace and make it look good with new Covers for the back as well.

I removed the parcel cover/hider some time ago. All problems gone. Try it, only takes a few seconds to remove. -Pete
