Little Rattle

I am getting a little rattle over my left shoulder and it is starting to bother me back near the little storage bin. Anyone else have this?

if its the left side on a USA car... check to make sure it isnt your keys rattling on the keyring

the rattles i have identified are inside the air vents (flaps controlled by the AC to direct airflow to windshield, legs, or passengers)... rattle from speaker grill near hatch.... and rattle from the hard plastic liner attached to the hatch... all but the first went away with pounding by my fist

I haven't had any rattles except for the coins in the coin tray which does not properly fit US coins. If you have a rattle coming from the storage bin behind you that should be pretty easy to find. I have mine stuffed with rags. You might want to try some rag stuffing and even under the lid, then you could put some masking tape over the lid to eliminate that. I think you need to just start eliminating things one at a time.

Good Luck and if or when you find it please let us know!
Russ

I'm getting the same rattle - driver's side, near my ear. It really doesn't sound like it is coming from the hatch, but I'll pay closer attention next time. Rather, it sounds like something associated with the little window on the driver's side. It is a very subtle rattle. Have about 600 miles on the car.

frazer, could that be the seat belt if the passenger seat is empty? Or the seat not fully in a locked position?

it is definitely coming from the seat back rattling and shaking. it is the electic seat, so locking shouldn't be an issue. i can reach over and hold the seat back (headrest part) and it quiets it...

not on especially rough roads..more normal ones. should I show the dealer? but how to do so if when there is a person sitting in the seat it doesn't happen?

I have exactly the same rattle as epeter01, just behind my left ear. It's seems to be in the black moulding on the rear-side of the side window post. If I reach back and press the moulding, it stops. Tried a bit of DWF, but that didn't work. Going to drop by the dealer next week and get them to check it out, will post anything I find out.

Unfortunately I heard the same little sound over my left shoulder today on a drive. A small buzz/rattle. I'll stay tuned to hear what you other guys find out from the dealers.

I figured out that the rattle is coming from the small bin behind the drivers seat. The rattle goes away when I open the door. So, it is either the door vibrating against the frame or the spring for the door.

Jason.

My son's Boxster S had a really annoying squeak coming from the door latch. I simply sprayed the locking mechanism and the catch with a commercial lubricant and it immediately disappeared. I couldn't believe how effective and immediate this cure was. Perhaps this could help?

well i thought i was lucky not to have any major squeeks or rattles but boy i have one now, the only way i can think to explain it is its like having a metal bin full of loose lego sat in the boot ,and every time you go over a bump its like someone shakes the tin . i actually stoped the car on the way home last night just to check that i hadnt got a loose exhaust or something like that . i checked al the trim and nothing looks lose ,my car has 2500 mile on it by now do you think these rattles manifest themselves after a couple of thousand miles or so or have your cars rattled from day one ,also the rear hatch did seem to be banging as i went over bumps its strange how when you start listening all sort of noises appear that you just hadnt noticed before ,anyhow i am contacting my opc to get them to have a listen i will let you know the outcome as soon as i have the opcs verdict , im feeling very depressed about this right now
