When I automatically rolled down the window yesterday the window began to go down very slowly (half way down). I thought it was something inside the door catching the window but, upon further inspection, I realized that the window was pulling on the weather stripping on the rear-side of the door (toward the exhaust). As the window went down it was pulling the weather stripping (window seal) into the door with it. I can physically open the door, hold the weather stripping with my fingers, and roll the window down so that the window's friction doesn't suck the stripping in with it but I don't want to have to physically hold the stripping every time I want to roll the window down. My P Dealership is pretty far away. Is there a simple solution to fix this? Anyone else had this problem?
That's bizarre! Did you clean the window or the seal w/ anything strange? Is the seal abraded or loose now?
You might try to treat the seal w/ preservative (not Armor-all, etc. but seal preservative). If the seal looks as if it's a bad part, then you don't have to worry about temp fixes damaging the seal (since you'll get it replaced), but you probably want to be careful what kind of gunk retracts into your door, so I wouldn't get too creative.
That shouldn't happen at all. I would see if someone from the dealership can suggest a remedy or you'll have to take it in. Anyway that you can post a photo?

Cayman S - a portable amusement park
HD: I think you said you bought your car in KY, some 300 miles from home.PCNA list says there are 4 dealers in TN (incl. Nashville); can you get there more easily? K-Man S recently reminded us that ALL dealers are supposed to treat buyers/non-buyers equally.
Yeah, I can get to N-Ville easily. Busy moving right now though. Will have to deal with it later. Will post pics soon too. Any recommendation on a brand of seal preserver? Where can I buy it? Autozone?
I brought the car to Tallahassee and had them look at it. The service guys couldn't figure it out and ended up putting some silicone lubricant on it. It seemed to work so I drove off. About two hours later the lubricant was dry and I had the same problem again.
I think I have it figured out now. If you look on your door-well (on the actual frame of the car where the door contacts the frame near the window on the back side of the door) you will see a very small, clear, strip of see-through rubber. I believe this strip of clear rubber is intended to add friction to the weatherstrip and hold it so that it doesn't get sucked into the window while you roll it down. My driver's side has this 'Strip' but my passenger side does not. I need to get one put on by the dealer. It's a long drive though. 80 miles.
I am running into the window problem as well. Tried to lower the driver's side window and it stuck half way down. I tried it again and it stuck a quarter of the way down. I didn't have time to investigate last night so I'm not sure if it's the same rubbing issue but I wanted to let everyone know that it may not be just a one-off problem.
Check that small piece of clear 'Rubber Tape' that is on the door frame it's self. Does yours only stick when rolling the window down with the door closed? Does it do it when the door is open too?
Got the problem fixed at Jack Ingram Motors in Montgomery, AL. What an outstanding bunch of guys. Greg Stillion (Sales Manager) is extremely helpful as well as Winfred (Service Consultant). They went out of their way to meet my schedule and fix my car quickly. Very happy with the service.
They ended up having to replace the entire door seal. Over night ordered it.
I also ran into Hubble15 who happenned to be there too. Awesome day.
You guys are not alone. I have the same problem with the passenger side window. I'm taking it in for inspection along with some other issues... im at 1800 miles.
