Oil indicator issues

I just had a strange issue with the oil indicator. I jumped in my car at a friends place (after my car had been sitting for about 2 hours) and before I started I checked the oil. To my surprise the oil level was 2 bars down. 2 days ago it was fine. I drofve home, and checked it again to be sure, before adding more oil. I waited the 5 minues or so, and the oil level came up perfect. Lucky I didn't go and add a litre or more of oil. I would have overfilled it.

Has anyone else had issues with the oil indicator?

One thing that is very helpful is to make sure you check it in the same place every time , e.g. in the garage before leaving for work. it's important to check it on level surface ,not only level front to back, but side to side. It is VERY sensitive to any incline. When I first got it ,I would check it too often and I would get readings all over the map ... which immediately translates into a hundred imaginary oil burning problems. Save yourself the agony and check it in the same place under same conditions . Its right where it was the day I bought it .
