Have any of you heard a sound from the front wheel area that sounds like metal to metal shrieking (fairly loud even with the windows up, almost like the brake dust shield rubbing possibly) It seems to occur mostly exiting parking lot driveways on a slight incline turning to the right but doesn't occur often enough that I could reliably point it out to the dealer yet.
This sounds like the front air deflectors scraping the road surface. Try entering these steep driveways at an angle to avoid the scraping.

It really sounds more like metal contact, luckily the problem is occuring on some tight, flat right hand turns now so I can have the dealer inspect it on monday.
Could be the sound of lesser cars your Cayman had for lunch dragging on the pavement. It takes a croc several tries to get it's victims all they way down the throat.
The dealer found the problem today and apparently tracked it down to a power steering returnline leaking fluid. I'm not entirely sure how this made the sound, but the car seems to be ok now.
This one is back again, now the car has a squealing sound when you turn the key on (but not started) for maybe half a second and sometimes under tight corners.
The same dealer has the car over this weekend and believes they've found the problem one more time, I'll post which part they replace next monday or tuesday but they think it's a pressure line again.

While taking a quick turn, road sweeps quick to the right and downhill I heard this scraping from the front left (which makes sense for the turn). Then in going up our driveway, which has a 1 1/2' lip, in turning I heard the same scraping but softer (much slower speed). When pulling in straight in the driveway, I heard it from both sides
Can I assume its those square rubber things that sit lower than the front lip? Those things look about 2 1/2' from the ground. I can't image lowering this car anymore than it is.
I hope its the rubber things scraping because I really dont want to take a car with 80 miles on it back for warranty work already!
Seems like they found a fluid leak around the rack and replaced these two parts including this pressure line for the second time in a few months.
997-347-451-03 AS Pressure line
987-347-449-02 Return line
And oddly enough, that new sound that occured right when the key was turned over was tracked down to the 996-624-119-01 'Trunk entrapment' device that apparently moves when the vehicle is first started.
Chows4us: My car has been to the dealer 6-7 times for warranty work and they're more than friendly about it.
