Complaints/Inquiry about Cayman/Boxster call here.
I just filed a complaint with Porsche PCNA 1-800-545-8039 ask for Steve.
Steve took my complaint down and was nice about it. He was also at a loss to explain any differentiation that would merit the price spread between 2007 Boxster S and Cayman S.
The complaint is why is the Cayman priced higher than the Boxster for 2007. And that I think it was irresponsible for Porsche to make these changes just 6 months after the release of the Cayman which removes the engine distinction as a new model.
I suggest everyone, even those that don't mind paying a premium, to call and file a complaint/inquiry. If Porsche has a logical answer I am open to hear it. It just takes 5minutes of your time.
I wonder if Kman can lock this thread and make it a sticky?
Steve from PCNA just called me. (how he got the number, I don't know.)
He complained to me about the stance I took in the 'discussion' we were having here regarding this matter. As well my reference to "poo" in the midst of it.
Said I was no longer deserving of having a Cayman S, much less any Porsche (or any kind, any year).
They're sending a non-descript, enclosed tow truck to pick up the car, and will give me a check for a complete refund, including tax, title fees, and pain & suffering.
I will have to sign a paper that precludes me from ever contributing here at Cayman Club again.
They're also giving me a free visit to the tatoo artist of my choice to have the 'gator' likeness removed from my *** cheek.

Of course, if you believe any of that then you probably believe callling PCNA and complaining will produce much of a result.
Although, it's like unpollo2 says- it's worth a try! Might as well get them making a list of disgruntled buyers (and, just so everybody is clear- I'm none to pleased about the pricing screw up either.)
If anybody hears back anything, or has tidbits to add- please post 'em here!
It will be interesting to follow.

Anecdote; Day two ownership of Boxster, I get a massive coolant leak. I have it towed to dealership. I'm told there's none of the coolant in the country yet (it's harvested in outter space, and tubs of it are still on the boat coming over). I call that 800 number and the 'clerk' at the other end (not Steve) tells me "Well sir, you'll just have to wait- now won't you?"

Good effort boys. I'm truely annoyed at what they have done. The only reason I went Cayman S was due to the power. Now what exactly am I paying £4k extra for ??
Its 4k over the Boxster price... when it should be 4k LESS than the Boxster... so it's really 8k
if you believe the Cayman is the coupe version of the Boxster, it should follow 911 coupe/cab pricing and be less
check out mpollards post with the Auto Press release about Boxster power bump... the first paragraph explains in detail how the Cayman was supposed to be a new model... not anymore!
KaiserSozay - a joy to read your posts - as always!!
unpollo2 - In California, we don't have a cooling period - period.
In a strange way this whole topic reminds me of Toy Story where Woody tells Buzz Lightyear: 'You're a TOY!'
A Boxster is not a Cayman. A Cayman didn't get hacked up to make a convertable. Porsche makes lots of money. Porsche makes great cars. Porsche customers (especially first time buyers) are emotionally charged. That is why they pay soooo much money for a car.
The options we have are 1) to be damn proud of what we did. 2)Blame Porsche and feel ripped off. 3)Or feel stupid.
I choose to have full accountability for what I did and feel like I got what I paid for and I am not unhappy with the price that I paid. The car is worth every penny. Nobody duped me. Nobody ripped me off. Nobody falsely advertised.
In a few years, maybe I will take a torch to the roof, making it look a little more like a speedster. Then I can raise the price $4K over bluebook and make some $$$

Cayman S - a portable amusement park
fmarshall, I'm in your camp. My Cayman S is a joy to drive and I'm happy withmy decision. Are Carrera drivers pissed about the Carrera S? Most things you purchase today become 'out of date' tomorrow. There will always be a better mousetrap on the horizon. The Cayman S is a superb motor car and I'm happy to own one.
PS. Now my wife wants a puppy. She encouraged me to buy a Porsche and all she wants is a puppy! What a great life I have!

It's been a hectic day, and I REALLY needed the laugh ~C.J.
I'm ROTFLMAO at you guys who are calling PCNA to whine. They probably get 1,000 complaints a day about everything under the sun. Do you think they give a flying rat's *** how you feel about the Cayman pricing? Especially after you already agreed to it and bought the car? Or that they care about preserving your precious ego (you've turned my Cayman into an entry-level Porsche now! How can I face theridicule at the office?)
For whatever reason, Porsche priced the Cayman higher than the Boxster, and it is outselling the Boxster 3 to 2. Read the sales figures. It has even exceeded their sales goals. If anything, they should charge MORE for it than they are now.
How can you fork over the premium for a Cayman, and then afterward whine that it's not fair? It doesn't matter whether it's a Boxster Coupe or a new-from-the-ground-up model. You paid thepremium because you felt it was worth it. If you found out now that the car isn't really what you thought you were buying, then YOU are the chump.
What Porsche has done and is doing next year is the same thing that car makers have been doing all along. Welcome to the world of automobile purchases. Just drive your car and enjoy it and stop acting childish.
