Coolant Puddle After Running

After I brought my car home (100 mile trip), the next day there was a small puddle of pink fluid underneath. I assume it is coolant and was therefore considering that the system was just overfilled. After my next trip, same thing. Notified the dealership and they told me to watch engine temp, etc. which I normally do anyway. Everything seems normal. After my third outing, in addition to the pink I saw a couple of drops of brown. I felt the puddle and it was slick like oil. Contacted the dealership again and am bringing the car in for a check. They said they sometimes have a problem with the coolant cap sealing well, but obviously are unsure on the oil issue. Anyone have similar experiencewith this? Shouldn't happen with a vehicle of this price and caliber.

There's a lot in modern technology that can go wrong and no matter what you buy, the weakest link is still the human element. It could be the workers didn't attach a hose properly, possibly by mistake. Not much you can do except get it fixed and move on.

Finally brought my car in to the dealership. They said that the expansion tank cap was not seating correctly and could not handle the increase incoolant pressure after engine shutdown. They apparently have fixed the problem, time will tell.

Where is the expansion tank anyway. Can we check it ourselves? I suppose if you don't have the problem it isn't an issue but it would be nice for anyone that might encounter this in the future if it was a DIY fix.

Isn't the expansion tank usually the tank you pour fluids into and thus is just under the engine cover?
