Beware: Hot Tailpipe!

Last weekend after returning from a drive I wasunloading stuff from the rear trunk I accidentally leaned my shin against the tailpipe while wearing shorts.

I think I heard the sizzling of flesh before I felt it. Here is the damage, one week later:

Since the tailpipe protrudes about 1/2 inch beyond the bumper, I can't imagine that I'm the first person to experience this. You would think that Porsche would have caught this hazard somewhere in the design process.

So beware fellow Caymanites! Learn from my experience. You've been warned....

On a more (or less) serious note, my wife burnt her leg on a tailpipe of a motorcycle when we were in some beautiful carribean island... two days later, I could see the serial number of the pipe on her burn mark. It was the funniest thing!

This has happened to me too. Luckily my burn was not as bad as yours; I only had a raised welt.

Here's the sick part: afterward I rather enjoyed looking at the welt. Almost like I had a physical reminder of my car everywhere I went.

HA! Not to laugh at your misfortune, but I did the exact same thing the other day unloading my golf clubs from the rear! I have the same 'reminder'....

Kind of reminds me of those old Kung Fu episodes - the intro where David Carradine has to pick up the hot iron thingies to leave the monastery... Grasshopper.

Reached under my car to grab something that fell out of my hand and got the exact same burn on my arm. Pretty sure it's going to leave a nice scar. Maybe this is like some type of branding initiation for Cayman owners...

It is the hazing ritual for owning a cayman s. It just happened to me as of five minutes ago. Had to share. welcome to the cayman s fraternity. Same thing. Unloading some stuff from the back. That tailpipe can get pretty hot. Ouch!
