Driver's side window problem

Hi everyone.

I'm 'babysitting' my best friends 2006 Atlas Grey on Black Cayman S. Beatufiul car and I'm realy enoying it. As a side note, I have a 1998 Acura NSX-T (3.2L/6 speed) so the compare/contrast between these two mid-engined, 6 cyinder, 290+bhp cars are intriguing.

Back to my question... the car has 2,500 miles on the odo. The driver's side window is not going down all the way when you push and hold for the auto down feature or when you just hold the window switch down. It moves silently and swiftly until it's about 85% down and then it slows down to a creep and sometimes stops altogether. A simply 'nudge' on the top of the window gets it going again.

It sometimes has a similar issue going up in that it will occassionally go up to the same spot that it slows going down and then automatically retract.

My buddy is in Hungary and the UK for another four weeks. He noted that this issue had started happening before he left and I thought I might try and see if I can help diagnose/fix it before he returns.

Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

Christian

the problem is the rubber trim on the bottom is folding back into the door creating additional friction. this will creat the slow down or stop all together. it is a known issue for some...dealer will replace rubber trim if it bothers you. its just really new ruber and thus softer...this also happened in my Lexus LX470. in time, thisdoes cure itself.

Thanks guys for the quick, helpful responses. I've sent this link (along with a plug for the forum) my buddy. I'll let him decide if he'd like me to take the car in or if he'd rather wait until his return from Europe.

So how is the Cayman compared to your NSX? One of my friends has a 2003 NSX and he didn't have many words for my Cayman aside from the steering feeling too electronic. It's Porsche Envy.

I'm actually planning on a much longer post after I return the Cayman but I'll say this... I completely disagree with your friend. I have a 1998 NSX-T with just under 50,000 miles on her. My car is virtually the same as your friends but for the fixed headlights and a 17' front wheel. I only point that out so you have a frame of reference.

The steering in the Cayman S is world's better than the NSX. As is the overall ride/handling compromise. Granted, I have a targa car and comparing that to a fixed roof car isn't really fair but the increased rigidiy of the Cayman S when compared to the NSX is immediately apparent.

So... I disagree with your friend.
