The transmitter on one of my keys stopped working last night. I'm not really sure why. The LED still lights up when i press the 3 buttons, but no there is no response from the car. I checked the battery in the keyand the voltage is fine. There isn't any visible damage to the circuit board, although there almost never is on electrical components. My other key works fine, so i'm using that one for now.I guess i'll call my dealer tomorrow...

Has the key been dropped or in moisture? If not my bet is the battery even if the voltage still shows good. If you take the key apart you can see how easy it would be to damage it. Please let us know.
My key didn't work when I got out of the car to go into the movie theater this weekend. I tried to lock the car and nothing. TheKey FOB lit up but it would lock the car, open thehood, or the back hatch. Iused the key to manually open the door, and re-shut the door. Itfinally locked.
When I came out of the Theater, it wouldn't open. I manually opened the car door, shut it again...... then locked and unlocked the door via the fob fine.
I haven't had a problem since. Itmade me worry though.
Do you have your spare? Usually remote key problems are just that - remote key problems. No problems with the car.
Mods4Cars
Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.

My other key works fine, so i'm using that one for now. I swapped the battery between my good key and bad key and the bad key still doesn't work, so i'm guessing i need a new key.
I was down at Huntington Beach watching the fire works the night before it stopped working. It was definetely humid at the beach, butthe keywas in my pocket the whole time, so i'd be suprised if that was all it took to kill my key.
Now that i think about it i was at Laguna Beach a few days before walking on the sand at the waters edge. Again i didn't get wet, but perhaps there were a few drops of wateri just didn't realise it at the time.

Attila, ifhumidity caused problems with our keys mine would never work where I live. Even if you dropped the key in freshwater, opening the case and blow drying it would probably solve that problem. Sounds like a defective key, to me.

I recently was taking what I thought was going to be strictlya walk on the beach with my 3.5 year old when there were some good waves and rip currents. I had my key, cell phone and wallet in my cargo shorts. Unexpectedly, of course I should have been better prepared for this, I was in the surf keeping my son from getting swept away. After the immediate concern for my son's well being passed I started wondering about the condition of my cell phone, key and wallet. As I made my way back to the car, I noticed my cell phone was dead and worried that it would be really bad if I couldn't start the car. It turned out that the key was fine, even though it had gotten damp with salt water. After detaching the battery from the cell phone and cleaning the contacts, and then letting everything dry out over night the cell phone came back to life as well. I now leave all of the electronic things in a bag where they will stay dry but could be stolen while I am playing in the surf with the little guy. It definitely has become more complicated to go to the beach and actually go into the water these days.
Sporting goods and boating stores carryhard shelled casesand flexible vinyl bags designed to keep things dry. For example, I have a flat, vinyl zip lockcontainer that would hold a key or wallet contents (not big enough for entire wallet). It's flexible and fits in a pocket easily. I use it when kayaking to keep my ID and $$ dry. Perhaps something like that wouldbe better than leaving your car key on the beach.
