Window Problem

Hi all, got a problem to describe and a question at the end:

Got my car last week after it had spent a month being trucked & shipped from Atlanta to Kaiserslautern, Germany. The receiving agent said the delivery driver mentioned a problem involving a nearly dead battery. (I noticed the clock had lost its hack as well) Swabbie cranking up the Bose during the voyage, I wonder?? Anyway, the receiving agent put about 2 miles on it to chg the battery and it started fine and hasn't had any probs.

Except the following gremlin: the passenger door window, after it retracts 1/2 inch when you open the door, doesn't close back again when you shut the door. Visual inspection reveals nothing amiss. Closes fine w/ the button. I took it to the german dealer and they fixed it right up. Except -- QUESTION -- do your Caymans passenger windows' auto-touch open/close just like the driver's side? Ithought both sides worked the same: a short clickis enough to get the window to run all the way up or down. But now my passenger window will run down w/ a click, but I have to hold the button to run it up. German mechanic sez that's normal. What do you guys say?? Is it operatinggood as new, or is this different? Help!

Hubble,

Congratulations on making it to Germany. Did you have any problems with your car? Any damage? Any scratches, stolen rear-view mirror, stolen floor mats? Every single one of my buddies here in the CPT's Career Course that has an M-3 and just came back from Germany (5 of them) has had one or more of the problems above. This makes me concerned asking for a slot to Germany.

Most of this occurred at the port (I think).

Thanks, Shane

All - thanks for checking! I'll go see if they loaded 'german' software in (anti-child strangling window or something). Either that, or the guy is BS-ing me.

Shane - car arrived w/o a scratch. No probs, except lo battery problem described already. My 911 made it home from the UK w/ no probs on the last move. I'm surprised your buds had that much difficulty. My impression is that the contractor has a pretty clean act these days.

Euro cars are different from US cars so says Stefan and the settings for the windows are different. Something he is addressing with his remote key offering for the Cayman. I'd say give hima call but he's riding with me to parade!
